SWC Lesson Reflection
Select (S):
The lesson I taught today was the brown bear what do you see? Story. I wanted students to identify and
recognize colors and animals, as it was the very first English story they heard in KG according to the
teacher knowledge, the story had simple words so I wanted them to listen to new concepts and new words
in English, explore puppets I used puppets to tell the story & to explore the story.
Describe (D):
The lesson was for 4-5 years old students in KG2 & it take place in Al Darari Kindergarten. My main goal
of this whole lesson was letting students explore and listen to new concepts and new words in English,
however the story was a little long for students that English is not their first language and as new English
learners it was long. But they did involve and enjoyed the lesson.
Analyze (A):
Students got so excited and fascinated by the story since I told them the story while using puppets, words
used in the story at first was difficult for them to understand what I mean by what do you see and the colors
and all of that, but later on they were saying with me the part what do you see? and they knew that purple,
yellow, etc. are colors. I engaged the students by letting them hold the puppets before telling the story and
by the end of the story I asked some student to come in front hold a puppet and for example if the student
hold the cat he/ she will ask the students what do you see? and the students would say we/ I see a purple
cat looking at me.

Did your lesson meet your teaching goals?
Once students saw the puppets they got excited and was interested to listen to the story, students enjoyed
the lesson, but since its long for them some of them got bored. I did meet all my teaching goals.

How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
What are the implications for your professional practice?
In future I would only do one thing or I might add and improve other things like activities, but what I want
to do is that when I read the story next time I would read half of it since the students got bored and the other
half I will read it later on. I focused on letting all the students involved in the lesson is what I always try to
do and will had a good results were all the students can increase their understanding and be able to add more
new information on their prior knowledge, and the last strategy that I always do my best to not forget about
it is the eye contact, its important as much as each student is.
