1. Team player: Being part of several teams comprising of people of varied demography helped me develop interpersonal skills that are critical for timely completion of work.2. Perseverant and hard working: Coming from a humble background I was always less confident of my abilities. This made me look at myself as the lowest rung in the ladder. This inculcated in me the habit of perseverance and hard work.3. Good negotiation skills: I was part of quality management team in my previous work place. The hardest part of the job involved telling people to improve something they had worked upon for long. This experience was quite challenging but eventually I learnt the skill of convincing people and this has been my greatest take away from my previous job. This has particularly helped me contribute as part of sponsorship team of FII. 2. How do I work? I am someone who enjoys working alone. It is primarily because I am a slow learner and working alone gives me time to think on my own and generate new ideas. Although having said that I definitely value my team members input if when I work in teams. I am someone who asks for others opinions before committing myself to a particular decision. I learn better by reading things myself than when someone else explains things. I however easily get stressed and it helps if I am able to complete the work much prior to the deadline because that gives me time to work on things at my own pace. 3. What are my values? The values which are of supreme importance for me are: 1. Honesty 2. Commitment 3. Perseverance 4. Loyalty. I try to remain true to the values I identify myself with because I believe that is the best way to remain true to you. All other traits of an individual originate from the values one identifies oneself with. But having said that it is important exercises it with discretion. Because if one were to be completely honest for instance it is possible that he/she may put others in trouble if he/she may to give away confidential information related to a firm the individual is working at. 4. Where do I belong? 1. The team I am working with is of great importance to me. It is important for me to have a great rapport with each of the team members so as to coordinate the efforts of everyone to achieve a common goal2. Clear definition of the requirements. Sometimes the deliverables and purpose of projects can get hazy. However in order to avoid confusion and to enable focused delivery I value clear definition of goals greatly. I perform better in an environment where things are certain. When things are chaotic and uncertain my performance tend to drop 5. What should I contribute? I believe I am reasonably good at analyzing both people and situations. If the team needs someone to take care of numbers I believe I can contribute significantly. I am also good at negotiations. So if the team is facing difficulty in convincing a client I believe I will definitely be able to help them out. I also the biggest contribution an individual can make is to bring out the best in each of the team member is assigned a task which he/she is best at then it inherently improve the teams performance. For that one should be able to communicate well. As Peter Drucker has said the most important part of communication is to hear what is not being said. Lindu Lawrance (1711290)
