Grade: 5th

Subject: English Language Arts

Length of Lesson: 1hour and 30 minutes

Lesson overview/ Rational: To strengthen the student's ability to write in


complete sentences and in paragraph form.

Common Core State of Michigan-Elementary English Language Arts.
Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and
information.

Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to write in complete sentences
They will s trengthen their ability to write in complete paragraphs
Students will be able to utilize computers.

Materials:
Pencil
erasers
pens
paper
computer

Procedure:
Teacher will provide a powerpoint presentation with examples how to write complete
sentences

Students will then partner up into groups of two and determine which of the sentences on
the powerpoint are complete and incomplete

Teacher will call each group up to the whiteboard and they will revise each sentence.

I will provide the students with a rubric that sets out exactly what they need to do for the
required assignment.

Assessment:
I looked for consistency with the sentences and determined which sentences students had
the most difficulty adjusting.
Observed how students worked with partners vs. how they work individually.
Each student will be graded based on work individually and combined.
