(TO BE PUBLISHED IN ‘THE GAZETTE OF INDIA PARTI SECTION 1) No. F.9-6/2008-U3(A)Vol.1 Government of India Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of lligher iSducation) U.3(A) Section Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi-01, Dated the{faluly, 2017 NOTIFICATION Whereas, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, the Gentral Government vide its Notification No.9-6/2008-U3(A) dated 02.02.2009, on the advice of UGC, had declared the International College of Girls located at Gurukul Marg, Mansarovar, Jaipur, Rajasthan, as an “Institution Deemed to be University”, in the name and style of IS University’, for the purposes of the aforesaid Act, provisionally for a period of five years, subject to the following conditions: i. International College for Girls, Jaipur, shall become an “Institution Deemed to be University” with the nomenclature of ‘IIS University’ with effect from the date of its disaffiliation from its affiliating university viz University of Rajasthan, Jaipur,; IL ‘The status of ‘deemed to be University’ conferred on ‘IIS University’ shall be reviewed by the UGC, through an Expert Committee, after a period of five years; fii, ‘The status conferred on ‘IIS University’ shall be confirmed after a period of five years on the basis of review to be conducted by the UGC through an Expert Committee and recommendation of the UGC thereof; iv. The declaration as made above shall cover only the International College for Girls located at Gurukul Marg, Mansarovar, Jaipur and the academic courses conducted hitherto by the said college under affiliation to the University of Rajasthan and those courses that it may start in future as per the norms of the UGC and the relevant Statutory Council(s) concerned. 2. And whereas, as per the conditions of the Ministry's Notification dated 02.02.2009, an Expert Committee was constituted by the UGC to review the functioning of the IIS University (Deemed to be University), Jaipur, Rajasthan in Page 1 of 3 sia St2 of Id.‘accordance with the provisions ‘of UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2016. = And whereas, the report of the UGC Expert Committee was placed before the Commission wherein the Commission resolved as under: “Considered and approved with the condition that all the deficiencies pointed out would be rectified and the suggestions given by the Expert Committee would be implemented within a period of six months and the compliance report would be submitted along with documentary proof to UG( 4. And further whereas, after examining the report of UGC Expert Committee and recommendations of UGC, it has been observed that the ‘Institution Deemed to be University’ is using the word ‘University’ with its name as suffix. However, UGC Act, 1956 as well as UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2016 prohibit the ‘Institutions Deemed to be Universities’ from using the word ‘University’ with their name as suffixed thereto. Moreover, an Institution Deemed to be University may use the word “Deemed to be University” with its name as suffixed thereto within parenthesis. 5. Now, therefore, the Central Government, on the advice & clarifications of the UGC, do hereby accord approval to the continuation / regularization of ‘IS University’ in the name & style of ‘IIS (Deemed to be University)’, Jaipur, Rajasthan as a deemed to be university for another period of five years i.e. from 0: 014 to 01.02.2019 subject to usual terms & conditions of this Ministry's Notification No.9-6/2008-U3(A) dated 02.02.2009 and UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2016 and its amendments, if any, from time to time. The continuation of Deemed to be University status to IIS (Deemed to be University) is further subject to the following conditions: i, The Institution Deemed to be University shall change the name of its Society, Land title, Accounts, Corpus Fund, etc, in the new name i.e. IIS (Deemed to be University), Jaipur, Rajasthan. ii, The Institution Deemed to be University shall rectify all the deficiencies pointed out and suggestions given by the UGC Expert Committee and shall submit compliance report along with documentary proof to UGC within a period of 6 months.
