To Whom It May Concern:

Professional As a photojournalist in Western Colorado I have come to believe that with every sunrise comes a
philosophy tremendous opportunity to illuminate the human condition with slivers of time thoughtfully
captured by mic, lens and shutter.

I am continually astounded by the digital revolution’s capacity to transform the way people
communicate creating interdependent, flourishing communities that invariably shape our existence.

Print Images Shooting for community-focused newspapers across Colorado I’ve connected with people from all
walks of life as I have worked to objectively share their captivating stories. My professional career
Photo Essays started in a darkroom more than a decade ago. As Digital SLR technology progressed, so did my
Videos ability to compose visually compelling photo essays and newsworthy images for print. My story-
telling continues to evolve as I become versed in audio engineering and video production in an
Soundslides effort to create relevant videos and engaging soundslide presentations on the Web.

During my tenure as a photographer I earned a B.A. in Photojournalism from the Metropolitan

Digital State College of Denver while minoring in Geographic Information Systems. I’m hoping to join a
Cartography progressive newsroom that sees the power of integrating digital cartography into their web cover-
age of stories, photos, events and videos. Like many of your readers, I am personally fascinated by
the “where” of day-to-day news and have the education and real world experience to answer the
question effectively.

Twitter As our medium weathers change like it has never before, I don’t have the perfect solution.
However, I do see great potential in bridging the gap between print and online audiences by lever-
Facebook
aging the power of social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.

I hope my journalism career, steeped visual storytelling, digital cartography and the emerging new-
media will provide a foundation to be selected to be photojournalist developing cutting-edge digi-
tal content for multiple platforms for the Journal-Courier.

In hiring me you would gain a tireless work ethic, open mind and proven ability to absorb and
apply ever-changing technology as newspapers evolve. Thank you in advance for your time and
consideration. I look forward to talking with you soon to discuss how I can contribute to your
team’s success.
Regards,

Eric Drummond
