RESUMEN
The in situ combustion process is a conventional thermal method that is based on the generation of heat
in the reservoir for recovering hydrocarbon after completion of primary and / or secondary production.
This method basically consists of burning a portion of the oil present in the deposit to generate the heat,
this portion is approximately 10%.
In situ combustion is usually started by lowering a heater or burner in the injector well, then injecting air
to the bottom of the well and starting the heater until ignition is achieved. Then the surroundings of the
bottom of the well are heated, the heater is removed and the air injection is continued to maintain the
advance of the combustion front.
