Within the previous ten days, your affiant received information from a confidential

informant hereinafter referred to in this affidavit as CI. The CI told your affiant that a
person known to the CI as Monica is selling methamphetamine from her residence at
4236 W. Main Street in the City of San Luis Beach. The CI knows this as the CI has
purchased methamphetamine from Monica in the past at the residence of Monica. The
CI told your affiant that Monica drives a vehicle (Cal Lic #4YVE017, 1995 Gold Ford)
to deliver methamphetamine for the purposes of sales. The CI knows this as the CI has
purchased methamphetamine from Monica at other locations besides Monica’s residence,
where Monica has arrived in the gold Ford being driven by Monica.

Your affiant questioned the CI carefully regarding drug trafficking and the appearance,
price, use and effects of various street drugs. The CI’s answers demonstrated extensive
knowledge street drugs including, methamphetamine.

Armed with this information your affiant caused a complete and through search of the
CI. The CI had no contraband on their person. The CI was given a quantity of police
funds and arranged a meeting with Monica at a location in the South Bay area of Los
Angeles County. Detectives of the San Luis Beach Police Department, Special
Investigations Unit observed Monica exit the residence at 4236 W. Main Street, San Luis
Beach and observed Monica meet with the CI. The CI was kept under constant
surveillance by Special Investigations Unit Detectives until the CI met with your affiant.
Your affiant was given a quantity of a substance, resembling methamphetamine by the
CI. The CI told your affiant that Monica sold the methamphetamine to the CI. The
Monica that meet with the CI was Monica Ann Smith, known personally to your affiant.

Your affiant requests that the identify of the CI remain confidential for the following
reasons: disclosure will jeopardize the life and safety of the CI and disclosure will
destroy the CI’s future usefulness to law enforcement.
