Teaching the Lesson

o Gradual Release of Responsibility I DO IT
How this round is going to work, you will have narrator asking the questions
you have come up with, which will be me. When I ask the question you will
recite what your answer to not only myself but the class as well. When we
present we need to use a teacher voice so that the whole class can hear you.
After presentations I will allow the rest of the class to ask 2-3 questions to the
presenters about their book.
To begin the round, I will start with my own presentation of interviewing my
books character.
Ask a teachers assistant, or student that has a good voice to be able to
read loud so the class can hear to read the questions to the teacher.
Check for understanding with sample problems, situations, questions.
o Gradual Release of Responsibility WE DO IT
Have students reflect on what was good about the teachers presentation.
Example- Loud voice, eye contact, script away from their face.
Afterwards make sure to remind them that we want those traits to be in their
presentations.
Independent Practice
Gradual Release of Responsibility YOU DO IT
When we present we want to make sure we are loud and confident
when giving our interview answers. So those that are using their loud
teacher voice will receive dragon dollars following their interview.
Now call on students in order of the bracket that is located in the back
of the classroom. Save the championship books for the final two
presentations. (This is represented on the bulletin board in the
classroom)
Make sure that the teacher gives compliments to students following
their presentations.
Closure: *

Students will vote on the final two book presentations to determine a winner.

Tally votes to determine a winner

whole tournament. I really pushed you guys to your limit, expecting your best. The amount of
excitement and effort you put into each of your presentations made me very proud. So I want to say
