Instrument Mic Placement Snake No. Snake No. Interface

First Half Second Half No.
Main Pair Stereo Pair: ORTF on a stereo bar: cardioid polar pattern,
17+18 (XLRs, 17+18 (XLRs,
L+R AKG C414 XL start slighter wider than the standard 110 9+10

II and listen to image to refine.
Outriggers Stereo Pair: Two separate stands. Slightly lower than the

1+2 1+2 1+2
Most likely in omni, but possibly cardioid if the
hall doesnt sound great. Tilt down to strings.
Wind Pair Stereo Pair: ORTF on a stereo bar: 110 - high enough that
L+R Rode NT5 each row of wind is approximately equidistant
S/N: 187701 from the pair. If the wind are spaced widely
3+4 3+4 3+4
+ 187702 across the orchestra, use each mic on a
separate stand. Consider choir spill: high and

the centre so as not to get in the way of the
performers beater.
Timpani AKG C451 B High and pointing steeply down towards the
front of the timpani to minimise choir spill.
Likely -10dB pad on mic. This should be two 7 7 7
mics to cover the amount of timpani being
used, so place carefully between all timpani.
Triangle + sE Electronics High and pointing steeply down to minimise
Tambourine Magneto choir spill. Consider micing from behind if 8 8 8
choir is particularly close.
Chimes + sE Electronics High and pointing steeply down to minimise
Xylophone Magneto choir spill. Consider micing from behind if 9 x 11
choir is particularly close.
Snare Drum Rode NT5 ~40cm away from the batter head, from
S/N: 222970 above pointing halfway between the middle 10 10 12
(moves) and rim.
Celeste MXL CR89 High and pointing steeply down to minimise
(moves) choir spill. Consider micing from behind if 11 11 13
choir is particularly close.
Piano Rode NTR Pointing at the middle of the hammers, and
thinking carefully about how best to capitalise 12 x 14
on the side rejection of the ribbon.
Cimbalom Neumann The Cimbalom will be featured as a soloist at
U87 (moves) the front of stage. Set to cardioid, placed high 13 13 15
and pointing down for isolation.
