Translation has been an important part of English language teaching for a long time, but it
has been abandoned since communicative methodologies became dominant.
Taking into account the constant changes into the Education its certain to say that the
translations has been abandoned both teacher and students since the students wish speak
in the target language and some teachers also think that is better an direct method than
a traditionalmethod, a truth be told, nowadays the students have many Access
to English language through music, videos, TV shows in English, games in English etc.,
many resources and tools that Taking into account a Second language and have caught
the attention of Young people, strategies and changes that day after day do that
thecommunicative methodologies become more dominant.
On the another hand, I can speak since my short experience where into the curriculum
There is major effort or concentration in grammar part where all material is design for the
Students complete sentences, fill spaces, find mistakes, organize sentences and so on
we can say the translation is not completely abandoned because currently the
communicative part takes an important part in the society and is really necessary
communication each others but in the classrooms the grammar is so important and useful
since it is linked to communication being as translation enhances critical reading skills,
improves grammatical awareness and language proficiency, facilitates vocabulary
acquisition, and develops intercultural competence.
