What is law

A rule of conduct, just, obligatory, formulated by legitimate authority for common observance and benefit.

When laws take effect

Laws shall take effect within 15 days after its publication in the OG or in a newspaper of general
circulation in the Philippines unless otherwise provided. Art 2, CC

Judicial Decisions

Judicial decisions applying or interpreting the laws or the Constitution shall form part of the legal system
of the Philippines. Art 8, CC

Ignorance of the Law

Ignorance of the law excuses no one from compliance therewith. Art 3, CC

Silence of the Law

No judge or court shall decline or refuse to render judgment by reason of silence, obscurity or
insufficiency of the laws. Art 9, CC

Who are lawyers

Member of the Philippine Bar, in good and regular standing

Atleast 21 years old

Filipino citizen and resident

Must produce satisfactory evidence to the SC of good moral character

no charges against him of a crime involving moral turpitude
