For competency one I have created opportunities for learners to come learn about interventions that are
used to help reduce falls and why those interventions work to reduce falls. I have created competency on
gait belts for ambulation and transfers to nursing staff.
For competency two I developed validators to help check other staff members off on nursing
competencies. By doing this, gave staff members the ability to engage in thoughtful and constructive self
and peer evaluations.
For competency three I reviewed evidence based practices on fall tools used for fall interventions and
their evaluations to see what interventions would help reduce falls. I helped develop a proposal to reduce
telemetry monitoring in the organization, which in return lowered the amount of patients that would have
to wait in ER on a telemetry inpatient bed.
For competency four I developed an educational training with learners based on sound principles, theory,
and research to reduce falls.
For competency five I implemented strategies for organizational change by implementing new education
on interventions to help reduce falls within the organization. I helped review evidence based practices to
help reduce telemetry monitoring and reduce CAUTIs within the organization.
For competency six I used feedback gained from self, peer, student, and administration evaluations to
improve the effectiveness of the learning environment. I can improve the training session for fall
interventions with evaluations given by those that have taken the training on what to improve on.
For competency seven I used evidence based practices to design teaching and evaluation practices for
training on fall interventions for learners. I reviewed evidenced based practices to implement early
removal of foleys at my organization to help reduce CAUTIs.
For competency eight I developed networks, collaborated, and gained partnerships to enhance nursings
influence within the academic community. I did this by working and partnering with directors, nursing
staff, and other educators of the organization to ensure all staff are implementing and using intervention
the way they are intended to help reduce falls.
