ABSTRACT
Several studies have investigated about omega 3 and its beneficial effects on
health: the reduction in plasma levels of triglycerides and increased HDL 2, and an anti-
inflammatory action. The objective of the study is to describe the benefits of
supplementation of omega 3 in athletes. The research was based on literature review, a
survey of scientific articles in PubMed, Capes, Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library
(VHL). Articles were selected in the search bar with the following description "Omega
3 and Athletes", Omega 3 and Recommendation "," Omega 3 and Immunity ". Articles
were excluded from the base theme, cardiovascular disease and diseases in general, and
included articles related to exercise, with descriptions athletes, performance,
recommendation and immunity. significant benefits of omega 3 found in immunity and
inflammation generated by exercise, but to occur benefits, daily intake substantially
high doses is required. There was, too, which is still very new, the number of studies
showing the benefits of omega3 in physical activity. Although several studies conducted
involving the use of fish oil in various purposes related to the treatment and prevention
of disease, there is still a lack of evidence linking exercise to supplementation of these
polyunsaturated fatty acids. Some research supports the hypothesis that supplementation
influences the modulation of the inflammatory process caused by exercise can be
mitigated through the rich fish oil use in omega-3. The ergogenic effects of this
supplement are still controversial and it is necessary to better research and development
studies to verify the action of the supplement in the various forms of exercise and sports
activities as well as its action acutely and standardization of sufficient quantity in
various types of sport. Moreover, there is still a great diversity in the exercise protocols
used to evaluate variables related to physical fitness or performance indicators, as well
as supplementation protocols.

imunitrio (CURI, 2002), bem como da atividade fsica e o sistema imunitrio
(CLEMENTE, 2006).
3. METODOLOGIA
A pesquisa foi baseada em reviso bibliogrfica, sendo escolhidos
artigos com critrios de incluso e excluso de acordo com o tema. Dentre as
bases de estudos pesquisadas esto PubMed, Capes Peridicos, Google
Acadmico, Biblioteca Virtual de Sade (BVS). Foram selecionados artigos na
barra de busca com a seguinte descrio mega 3 e Atletas, mega 3 e
Recomendao, mega 3 e Imunidade, mega 3 e Sade.

Descreve tambm que mesmo com estudos com protrocolos com grupos
controle, relatam tambm que no h comprovao da suplementao crnica
resultariam em resultados antiinflamatrios a longo prazo.
Percebemos que mais uma vez o mega 3 pode ser sim um grande
alimento para efeitos antiinflamatrios porm mais uma vez no podemos
comprovar sua eficcia a longo prazo diretamente ligado a inflamao ps
atividade fsica .
