Junior Space Applications for Exhibition, Jan-Jun 2018

Junior Space is calling or proposals from emerging and established artists, collectives, organizations and
curators to exhibit from JanJune 2018.

Junior Space accepts applications from local, interstate and international practitioners. Exhibitions can be
solo or group exhibitions. Junior Space can cater to a wide range of creative fields and processes. This in-
cludes (but is not limited to) the visual arts, performance, sound art, new media art, and participatory works.

Junior Space has a commitment to accessibility and we support practitioners of any background, age,
gender, culture and ability. Our new space at 395 Gore Street is wheelchair accessible (ramp to be installed
December 2017)

The current cost of exhibiting is $1250 for a month long exhibition.

Exhibition length is non-negotiable.

This fee includes:

A four week public exhibition (including one day for install and one day for de-install)
15sqm gallery space
Street frontage to Gore Street, Fitzroy
Design and distribution of an electronic invitation and flyer
Email to our mailing list of art industry professionals and the public
Event listing on Visit Victoria website
Instagram posts before and during exhibition to audience of 4000+ followers
Design of an online catalogue
Printed price list
Staff for opening
Curatorial and professional advice
Insurance of work whilst on display at Junior Space
Contacts to framing services and installers if needed

Exhibition hours are Thursday to Sunday, 12-6pm. We have a team of volunteers that help invigilate
exhibitions, though volunteers cannot be relied upon for every shift during the exhibition period. Invigilation
of shows is ultimately the responsibility of the artist.

Openings are on the first Saturday of the exhibition period, between 2-4pm.
Due to licensing and size restrictions of the space, these openings will not be public events, but invitation
based.

Junior Space takes a 10% commission on works sold.

The gallery does not receive any profit from the exhibition.

The exhibition fee covers rent of the space and the above services.
Install/De-install

Installation can take place the Friday before the exhibition opening. Junior Space has some install
equipment, please get in touch to see if we have what you need.
A hanging system will be installed in the space in December 2017.
All additional equipment or install costs are to be paid for/supplied by the artist.

The exhibition must be de-installed on the last Thursday of the exhibition period by 5pm.
De-installation is the responsibility of the artist. Please note that Junior Space does not have room to
store works.

If assistance is needed with install or de-install, we can recommend industry professionals that can help with
this process. This cost is not covered in the exhibition fee.

Desposit, bond and payment

A non-refundable deposit of 25% and $100 bond will be required upon confirmation of exhibition booking
and will be required within two weeks of acceptance notification. If you are experiencing financial difficulty,
please contact Junior Space as soon as possible to arrange a payment plan. The remaining balance must be
paid one month prior to exhibition installation. Bond will be returned after de-installation where the gallery
must be returned to its original condition.

Support Material
Please supply support material for your project application. This can either be conceptual or actual.
Please label files with both your name and title of the project. Maximum 15 images and 3 audiovisual
files will be accepted.
Maximum file size is 1MB.
Additional web based links to works/past exhibitions are acceptable.
