This lesson plan introduces adverbs to 3rd and 4th grade students through a charades activity. The plan is for a 30 minute lesson. Students will first review what verbs are. They will then learn that an adverb modifies a verb by answering how, when, where, how often, or in what way. To demonstrate adverbs, students will be split into two teams to act out phrases containing a verb and adverb without speaking. Examples like "bravely fight" and "nervously look around" will be used. At the end, students will discuss which adverbs they learned and enjoyed the activity. Their understanding of matching adverbs to actions will be assessed.

the game, which they had not heard before, and what they enjoyed about the game itself and WHY?? Next lesson we will learn more about making our writing better through the use of adverbs. Assessments/Reflections Assessment -note how easily the students could categorize the adverbs and if they were demonstrating the adverbs in their actions, showing understanding of the words. Also, determine if the words were too difficult to grasp in action. This might be a difficult task for some students.
