Methods of alignment are straight edge method and dial gauge

Misalignment can cause the following

1. Break coupling bolts or wear the rubber fast.
2. Shorten life time of the bearings, couplings, seals and shafts.
3. Cause vibration
4. Loose foundation bolts.
5. Abnormal High temp near the bearings.
