David Brennan

Chief Executive Officer

David Brennan was appointed Chief Executive Officer of AstraZeneca


effective 1 January 2006 and is now based at the global headquarters in
London. From 2001 until his appointment to CEO, David was President and
Chief Executive Officer of AstraZeneca LP, the Company’s North American
subsidiary for the U.S. and Canada. He was appointed Executive Board
Director of AstraZeneca in 2005.

David began his career in 1975 at Merck, where he started as a sales


representative in the U.S. Division and later worked in sales and marketing
management in the US and International divisions. He joined AstraMerck in
1992 and helped to build the joint venture into a multi-billion dollar business in
the U.S. which was then merged to form AstraZeneca in 1999.

He is an alumnus of Gettysburg College where he studied Business


Administration.

In addition to his role as Executive Director of AstraZeneca PLC he is also:


• Chairman of the Board of the Pharmaceutical Research and
Manufacturers of America (PhRMA)
• Member of the Executive Board of the European Federation of
Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA)
• Member of the European Roundtable of Industrialists
• Member of the National Institute of Health Roundtable on Evidence
Based Medicine
• Commissioner of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills
• Past Chairman of the Board of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter
of the American Heart Association
• Honorary Board member of the US CEO Roundtable on Cancer
• Member of the Board of the Philadelphia Orchestra

David is married with four children and six grandchildren. He enjoys scuba
diving, cycling and is an amateur photographer.
Philip Burchard
Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations

Philip Burchard was recently appointed Senior VP of Commercial Operations.


Philip joined AstraZeneca in 2002 as the President of AstraZeneca Germany,
where he contributed to the successful growth of our business in what has
been an increasingly challenging environment. Philip was appointed Regional
Vice President, Latin America in 2006.

Before joining AstraZeneca, Philip worked for Hoechst and later Aventis in a
succession of sales and marketing roles, starting as a sales representative in
Chicago. He then held increasingly senior roles including country head in
Finland and Indonesia, Business Unit Director in Germany and Commercial
Director in Europe.

Philip is a German national and grew up in Brazil. He earned his state


university degree in business administration from the European Business
School in Germany.

Philip is married and has two sons.


 

Bruno Angelici 
Executive Vice President, Europe, Japan, AsiaPacific, Latin
America, Middle East and Africa
Bruno Angelici has served in his current role since 2001.

Prior to his present role Bruno served as President of AZ Japan and was responsible
for the merger between Astra and Zeneca Japan.

Bruno joined the company in 1989 as President of ICI Pharma France.

His early career was spent in the food industry before joining Baxter Healthcare in
1978 as assistant to the Vice President International in the US. In 1984 he became
Managing Director for Baxter in France.

Born in France, Bruno holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management,
Chicago.

Bruno is a member of the Supervisory Board of Wolters Kluwer and is President of


the Supervisory Board of Reims Management School.

He is married with four children and enjoys playing golf.


 
 
Ruud Dobber
Regional Vice-President, Asia Pacific
Ruud Dobber is the Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific where he is
accountable for the performance of our business in 14 markets.

Ruud joined AstraZeneca in 1997 in The Netherlands where he held a


number of commercial roles prior to being appointed as President of
AstraZeneca Netherlands in 2001.

In 2006 he was appointed as an Area Vice President in Europe, where he


provided leadership and direction to the mid size European markets. In 2007
he was promoted to his current role.

Ruud commenced his career as a scientist, researching in the field of


Immunology at the University of Leiden. Ruud is a Senior Executive member
of the Asia Pacific division of the PhRMA association. He holds a PhD in
Immunology from the University of Leiden.

Ruud lives in Singapore with his wife Paula and their 2 children.
James Ward-Lilley
Regional Vice-President, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle
East and Africa (CEEMEA)

James joined AstraZeneca in 1987 working in our sales and marketing


organisation in the UK. He gained extensive experience in the UK. He has
also worked extensively in our Japan marketing company.

James was appointed President of AstraZeneca Belgium and Luxembourg in


2002. He served in that role until 2005 when he was appointed President,
AstraZeneca China in 2005. He was appointed to his current role as Regional
Vice President of CEEMEA in April of 2008.

James lives in Brussels with his wife Julia and their three sons.
Tony Zook
Executive Vice President, Commercial Operations

Tony Zook has responsibility for our worldwide Sales and Marketing activities,
including Global Marketing. The new Global Commercial organisation, under
Tony’s leadership, facilitates the sharing of experience across markets –
driving alignment and synergies where relevant - and underpins the delivery
of a single, global commercial strategy.

Prior to this role, Tony Zook directed AstraZeneca’s largest market, the United
States and Canada, and headed AstraZeneca’s Global Marketing function, in
addition to responsibilities as the interim President of MedImmune.

Tony joined Astra USA in 1997 as Vice President-Marketing and Sales, two
years before the merger of Astra AB and Zeneca Group Plc in 1999. Prior to
becoming President and CEO for AstraZeneca’s US Business in 2006, Tony
was Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations responsible for leading
the company’s marketing and sales organisations in the United States. He
has also held various other positions in AstraZeneca’s sales and marketing
organisation.

Tony earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Frostburg University, and an


associate's degree in chemical engineering from Penn State University. Tony
is a member of the Board for First State Innovation, the Pennsylvania Division
of the American Cancer Society and is a member of the Board of Trustees for
the Healthcare Leadership Council.
Xudong (Dong) Yin
President, AstraZeneca China and Hong Kong
Xudong joined AstraZeneca China in February 2004 as Vice President of
Strategic Planning and Marketing, and was promoted to Vice President of
Primary Care Business in 2005. He was appointed to current position in April
2008.

Xudong is a member of the Executive Committee of the China R&D-based


Pharmaceutical Industry Association. He is actively involved in various
forums that shape the healthcare industry policies and environment.

Xudong received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Beijing


University in China, MBA from Harvard Business School, and PhD in
Biological Science from Stanford University. Prior to AstraZeneca, Xudong
worked in an international strategic consulting firm, focusing on
pharmaceutical industry clients in Asia.

Xudong lives in Shanghai, China with his wife and two daughters.
Rubens Pedrosa
President, AstraZeneca Brazil
Rubens currently serves as the President of AstraZeneca’s business in Brazil.
He has worked in various managerial positions in diverse functions within the
pharmaceutical business. His experience includes work in technical
operations, marketing, sales as well as general administration.

Rubens has worked with a wide number of pharmaceutical companies in


Brazil, including local Brazilian companies such as Furp and Eurofarma. He
has also worked with multinationals including Bayer, Schering-Plough,
Warner-Lambert/Pfizer and Merck-Serono. His experience includes working in
Germany with Bayer.

Rubens received a degree in pharmacy, specialising in biochemistry, from the


University of São Paulo in 1982. He has served as a member of the Board of
Directors at Interfarma, the Brazilian Association of Research-Based
Pharmaceutical Manufacturers since 2005.

Rubens lives in São Paulo with his wife and two daughters.
Maged Gobran
Area Vice President MENA - AstraZeneca

Maged Gobran was appointed Area Vice President for Middle East and North Africa in
2006. He joined AstraZeneca in September 2004, as Area Vice President for North
Africa.

Maged has a long career in the pharmaceutical industry in the Middle East, Europe
and the US. He started his career in 1980 and in his early career he spent 3 years as a
sales representative in Egypt and in New York City. He spent 5 years working in
healthcare advertising with Bozell in New York, where he led the agency team that
launched 2 major products in the US market for Glaxo and Abbott Laboratories as
clients.

Maged came back to the Middle East in 1995 as Director of Operations Planning for
Bristol Myers Squibb. In 1997, he joined GlaxoWellcome as Managing Director for
Saudi Arabia. In 2001, he was appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of
GlaxoSmithKline in Egypt.

Maged has a B.S. in Pharmacy is from Cairo University and MBA from Fordham
University in New York.

He is a member of the Executive Board of the Pharmaceutical Research and


Manufacturers of America, Middle East Committee, and he is a board member of the
Egypt International Economic Forum. He has been recently appointed by the Egyptian
Government as board member of the Egyptian-British Business Council (EBBC).
Jerzy Garlicki
President of AstraZeneca Pharma Poland

Jerzy started his professional career as a physician in 1986 at the Jagiellonian


University in Poland. He entered the pharmaceutical industry as a medical
representative at MSD Poland in 1992. He became marketing manager in 1996. He
has since worked as Sales Director of Pfizer Poland as well as President of Fournier
Poland.

Jerzy joined AstraZeneca in 2003 as President of AstraZeneca Poland.

Jerzy Garlicki is a qualified physician. He has also received an MBA from the
University of Warsaw and the University of Illinois.

He held the post of Vice President of the Employers' Union of Innovative


Pharmaceutical Companies, INFARMA, from June 2008 and became its President in
April 2009.
Ricardo Alvarez-Tostado
President & General Manager, AstraZeneca Mexico

Ricardo Alvarez-Tostado was appointed President and General Manager effective 1


October 2001.

Ricardo started his career in sales and product planning at MSD Mexico in 1975. In
October 1996 he joined GRUMA Corporation as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. In
August 1998, Ricardo was appointed as C.E.O Gruma Mexico & Central America,
becoming responsible for all of GRUMA’s domestic operations and was elected
Chairman of the Board & C.E.O. for the Groups largest operation; Grupo Industrial
Maseca.

During his 33 years of industry experience he has held various management


positions in the Pharmaceutical Industry in Mexico, U.S.A., Spain, England, Middle
East, Africa, Switzerland, Argentina, Far East and Portugal.

Along with his professional activities, Ricardo was appointed by The Secretary of
State for Health as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the National Cancer
Institute of Mexico.
