The Convention
The Bellevue Manila North Bridgeway, Filinvest City,
Alabang, Muntinlupa, Philippines 1781 February 21-24, 2018

The annual PIChE National Convention is the largest gathering of

chemical engineers in the country, with delegates coming from various
industries and institutions. It provides a stimulating forum for scientists,
engineers, educators, environmentalists, entrepreneurs and students from all
over the Philippines and neighboring countries to share new research findings
and exchange relevant information on current and emerging areas of research
and technologies. It also creates a pleasant environment for the participants
to meet old friends and make new friends who share similar research or career
interests and passion for making the chemical engineering profession
relevant.

National Development. While Filipino Chemical Engineers aim to be
globally competitive professionals by continuing learning and development,
we must also not forget that we have a primary responsibility to contribute to
advancing our nation and solving problems which impact our countrymen and
the future generation of Filipinos.

The Host Chapter

PIChE Laguna Chapter
The chapter was established on September 17, 1997 by 25 UPLB Chemical Engineers spearheaded by
Professor Rex B. Demafelis, the then Chairman of UPLB Chemical Engineering Department.

Initially, the chapter had 110 members coming from the academe and different companies within
Laguna.

In 2002, five years after its establishment, PIChE-Laguna hosted the 63rdPIChE National Convention
which was held at DL Umali Auditorium in UPLB.
