Introduction (5 min.):

Ball game for introduction
Assessment of Prior Knowledge:
None, this is the first class and will begin the process of getting to know activities and
rules and expectations for the year
Expectations for Learning and Behaviour:
Students will be expected to participate in all discussions and activities while being
respectful of others opinions/beliefs/values.
Students will be expected to participate in the research activity using their cell
phones without abusing the privilege of technology.

Differentiation:
As of the moment no students require differentiation or accommodations at this time

Transition to Body:
Body (45 min.):
Learning Activity #1: Ball game introduction
Students will be tossed a ball and will have to describe one cool thing about
themselves, interest, a fun thing they did over the summer, and plan for after school
if they have one at the moment.
They will then throw the ball to someone else wholl catch it and begin the process
over again.
Learning Activity #2: Concentric Circles
Students arrange themselves in an inside circle and an outside circle, the inside
facing out, forming pairs.

Students will then then rotate for the next question, forming a new partnership.
Sample questions:
Do you play any sports? If so, which ones?
Describe your perfect dinner.
Learning Activity #3: Globalization worksheet
Introduce students to the concept of globalization.
In partners or pairs of three have students come up with a definition of globalization
on their own without looking it up.
Students will share their responses to the class.
After students may look up definition on their phones/laptops
Come up with a group definition that isnt taken verbatim from Google
Students can then begin on activity together or by themselves for the duration of the
class. Easing them back into school.
