A Poor, Rich Man

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is the tale of a man who

surrenders his life to the lust for money. Ebenezer Scrooge, an old man
who is well-known for his miserly ways, gives up all of the wonderful things
in life to something of lesser importance. All of the beautiful relationships,
moments, and friendships Mr. Scrooge could have experienced are
mercilessly sucked away by the parasite that is the lust for money. In this
beautifully crafted novella, we learn how prominently choices made in the
past will affect the future.

When Scrooge is visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past, Scrooge

witnessed his transition into the miserable, grumpy man he became.
Scrooge discovered how he had changed and how deeply his change of
priorities had affected him. The Ghost first transported him to his birth
place, and we observe his happiness to leave as his sister comes to
collect him. For the first time in the story, we see Scrooge showing a
glimmer of excitement which then turned into sadness as he traveled
through different Christmas times of his life. Scrooge admitted his wrongs
and bad decisions to himself. Scrooges heart broke as he observed his
former self arguing with his fianc. His love for money had surpassed his
love for her, and Scrooge felt heavy regret for his ways and thoughts for
the first time. The Ghost of Christmas Past woke Ebenezer, introducing
regret, excitement, and nostalgia into his unfeeling heart.

Well done! You missed a word near the beginning: .....that he spent
as a boy in an abandoned school-house......

You had an extra comma after delicate: Fanny, who was delicate, but had
a large heart.....

You had an extra comma after Scrooge: .....was showing Scrooge, was
that....

Well written!
