Installation
1. OBJECTIVE
This Method Statement describes the Construction Methodology and

procedures of existing tanks and facilities protection sheet installation in
respect of the subject project with Contract No: 17-WS-009 at Maaden
Waad ALShamal Phosphate Company for Molten Sulphur emergency
storage tank project.
2. SCOPE OF WORK
This method statement describe the way to sustain the existing facilities
around new Sulphur tank (Tank # 1,2, and 3, existing pipe rack, and all
sensitive accessories) by installing protection sheet around it, and keep it
on during all stages of tank construction.

methodology. to be specified.

4. DEFINITIONS AND ABBREVIATIONS

MWSPC: Maaden Waad Alshamal Phosphate Company.
PMT: Project Management Team.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES
5.1 PROJECT MANAGER:
Project Manager would be responsible for Co-ordinating between

client, consultant & subcontractor for design and execution of
project.
5.2 SITE ENGINEER:
Site Engineer and General Foreman shall be responsible for the

implementation of this Method Statement under the professional
guidance of the Project Manager, and Safety Supervisor / Officer.
5.3 PERMIT RECIVER:
Permit Receiver shall insure controlling and co-ordinating work to

establish and maintain safe working conditions. and ensure that all
foreseeable hazards have been considered and that the appropriate
precautions are defined and carried out in the correct sequence, and
all activities as per MWSPC work procedure.
5.4 SAFETY SUPERVISOR:
Safety officer/Supervisor shall be responsible for the

implementation of safety requirements and practices as per Maaden
project requirements and shall report to the Site Manager.

6. ACCESS TO TANK FARM AREA
The access to tank farm area will be through the tanks temporary ramp
constructed for this purpose (material shifting, vehicle and heavy
equipments movement), Existing step stairs to be used for man power as per
mentioned in the below figure 1.

7. PROTECTION SHEET SPECIFICATIONS AND DIMENSIONS
Each panel of protection sheet (Hoarding) will consist the Below main part.
1. The Main frame which is ( Tow (2) vertical galvanized post with diameter of (76 mm)
and height 2.1 meter, will be welded to 120 mm x 120 mm H section Base with
length of 50 cm, and two horizontal 40mm x 20mm tube.
2. Protection sheet supporting tube which is three vertical 40mm x 20mm tube welded to
main frame tube with distance as per mentioned in Figure 2.
3. white color aluminum sheet with thickness of 1mm and width of 1 meter and 2.5-
meter length, as per mentioned in Figure 2, and to be fixed to the vertical tube with
1/2 in. Self-Piercing Screw.

8. PROTECTION SHEET LAYOUT
The protection sheet panel (Hoarding) will be lay to close all unnecessary area
around construction site with total length of 192 meter which is around 63
panels as per mentioned in figure 3 below.

9. PANELS INSTALLING AND FIXING METHODOLGY
9.1 Pre-activities and Site preparations:
Ensure approval and release of Work Area by Maaden PMT or other relevant
departments prior to commencement of work on site as required.
Prior to commencement of work contained herein, Hidada Contracting Company
shall obtain the relevant work permits from MWSPC /Operations Team.
Toolbox shall be conducted by the Supervisor. Use of necessary PPE shall be
checked and enforced by the safety officer. (Safety Glass, Safety Shoe, Helmet,
Coverall, etc.)
Existing Services HCC construction team will mark the area and would conduct
an investigation and acquire information about site services might have been
placed/embedded below the paved area. Services, wherever found shall be
rerouted and protected to place will not affect site activities.
9.2 Materials and Required Tools & Equipments:
Required Materials
1. Protection sheet panels (Hoarding).

2. Post coupler for coupling each panel to the next panel.
3. Angled back stay to support the protection sheet.
4. Expansion bolts.

All Plant, Machineries, Tools and Equipments would be inspected on

each occasion before its used and in accordance with manufacturers
and statutory requirements. If any defects are identified, the equipment
shall be taken out of use and replaced.
9.3 Activities and Construction Sequence:

i) Clearing the Panels Lines
The site of panels shall be sufficiently cleared of obstructions, this

clearing shall consist of any irregular obstructions that will interfere with
proper construction of protection sheet.

ii) Protection sheet (Hoarding) Lifting/Positioning
The forklift operator shall be in possession of necessary licenses under

KSA Law, third party certificate of competency for forklift being used.
Qualified flagman shall be assigned to guide the offloading, lifting and
positioning operation of protection sheet panels. No lifting operation shall
take place without flagman.
Positioning of protection panel will be according to the marked line and

as per protection sheet general layout figure 2.
iii) Coupling of hoarding panels
All Hoarding panels to be coupled by three double couplers in each side,

to insure more stability for the whole structure.

iv) Bracing
After installing and positioning the protection sheet, we will position the
angled back stay to mark the required drilling hole, after insuring the
location of holes is matching with our angled back stay plate we will
proceed to the next step which is paving drilling.
3 inches expansion bolts to be used to fix the angled back stay plate to the
concrete paving.

10. SAFETY
All activities would be undertaken in accordance with Maaden Fire

and Safety Regulations and Health Safety & Environment policies.
Work Permit would be obtained (when required) prior to

commencement of work on site.
All necessary PPE would be provided and used accordingly at all.
