When looking over the course objectives, I saw one saying, Approach new computer-based

tasks more easily and with greater confidence. That is something that I really resonated with

me. When I signed up for Tech Literacy: Problem Solving with Digital Technology Apps, at

first, I was like, why do I need this, I am so tech savvy. Let me just say this, boy was I wrong.

I realized I only know the basic functions of the popular programs but they all go really in depth.

In this class, I learned many things. Not only did we learn a lot about the programs, but we also

learned a lot about the history of computers and very interesting terms which I thought was very

interesting. I thought I knew everything about Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint,

Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, etc before I was enrolled in this class. However, taking

this course helped further my knowledge. Professor Lewallen also showed our class a lot of

shortcuts and tips to make our life easier. I had no idea I was doing everything the long way. He

also showed me not just how to navigate the programs, but how to apply the numerous programs

in real life like Excel with budget planning.

According to google, "Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program used to store and retrieve

numerical data in a grid format of columns and rows. Excel is ideal for entering, calculating and

analyzing company data such as sales figures, sales taxes or commissions". I have used Excel in

the past, but I was never very confident until I took this class. I am more comfortable with all the

functions like the formulas and I will without a doubt use Microsoft Excel when I become a

teacher and when I want to make sure I am spending money wisely.

I really enjoyed the Adobe Photoshop module. At first, I was a little uncertain with Adobe

Photoshop because I have never used the program, only heard about all the features it offers. I

thought it was really fun that we got to photoshop a personal photo. While my dad was not very

happy about me removing all his wrinkles and under eye bags because it made him feel much

older, he told me he thought a professional did it. I took that as a huge complement because I

went from not knowing how to use all the features, to, with the help of Lewallen, successfully

edited a photo.

I learned how to use Microsoft Words quick launch bar icon and PowerPoints animation and

transition feature. I also learned the functions of brochures and newsletters in Publisher. I also

extremely knowledgeable in all of the Google programs like Google Docs, Google Slides,

Google Forms, and how to use Google Drive thanks to this class. Computers and computer

programs continuously amaze me with all of the things they can do. Overall, I am very glad I

took this class my first semester of college because it can help me with my future classes.
