THE TAJ MAHAL

INTRODUCTION

The Taj Mahal means Crown of the Palace, Its a mausoleum on the south bank
of the Yamuna river in the Agra city Indian. It was built in 1632 by the Moslem
emperor, Shah Jahan, the big buildings built in honor to his favorite wife, Mumtaz
Mahal, who dead in the birth of her fourteenth child. The construction needed
some 20 000 workers under the guidance of a board of architects led by the court
architect to the emperor, Usad Ahmad Lahori.

The Taj Mahal is considered the most beautiful example of the Mongola
architecture, which combine element of the Islamic, Persian, Indian and Turkish
architectures. This monument has achieved special notoriety by the romantic
carcter of its inspiration. The Taj Mahal is a walled board of buildings that takes
up 17 hectare and inclues a great mosque, a guest house and gardens.

The monument is an important touristic destination for India. It was designated


by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1983 for being the jewel of moslem art
in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the worlds heritage.
The Taj Mahal is a symbol of Indias rich history. The mauseleum attracts 7-8
millions visitors a year. In 2007, it was declared a New 7 Wonders of the World.
