Lockdown Drill
This year SOIS is introducing new types of emergency
drills to cover various situations. When students are
prepared for a crisis, they instinctively act and panic
less. A lockdown takes place when there is an intruder
on campus. An announcement will be made and
everyone is expected to go in the nearest room and
lock or barricade the door, close all windows and blinds.
The drills are vital for schools to practice, but we also
do not want to worry or scare the students. The
lockdown drill will be taking place this Thursday
December 7.

High School Winter Concert

Everyone is invited to attend the concert taking place at
the elegant Maple Hall located on the main street of
Minoh. These kinds of events build our community so it
is nice to see teachers, parents and students come to
share the Christmas cheer. Even if your child is not
performing, you are welcome to come and support the
music program.

Refugee Film Festival

Kwansei Gakuin University with cooperation of the
United Nations High Commission of Refugees, is
sponsoring a film festival. We are fortunate to have
one of the movies playing at OIS on Friday
December 8 at 15:45 in the third floor conference
room. The movie will be Born in Syria, Director
Hernan Zins documentary traces the journeys of 7
child refugees being moved across Europe in
search of a new life. He is quite the
cinematographer and there are beautiful scenes
combined with the heartbreak for ruined
childhoods. It is free admission and parents,
students and teachers are invited to attend.
