This Specification, Datasheet and Drawings
Codes and Standards

3.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

3.1 RATING
The distribution board shall be supplied in accordance with this specification, datasheet
and one line diagram.
The distribution board shall be suitable for specified site conditions and designed to
operate satisfactorily at maximum ambient and minimum ambient temperatures and
relative humidity specified in data sheets.

The distribution board shall also operate satisfactorily with the pitch and roll of a floating
vessel.
The distribution board and associated components shall be rated for continuous operation.
The distribution boards rating are as stated on the attached one line diagram/datasheet.
The distribution board shall type tested for the specified short time rating. Copy of type
test certificate shall be submitted.
The distribution boards shall be suitable for satisfactory operation with steady state
voltage and frequency variations of 10% and 5% respectively and transient voltage
and frequency variation of 20% and 5% respectively.

3.2 CONSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES

The distribution boards shall be flush fronted and arranged to form a single unit, suitable
for surface mounting.
The distribution boards shall be suitable for bottom cable entry. Metric cable entry holes
shall be provided at the bottom of the distribution boards for customer cables. Holes
size/details shall be provided subsequent to placement of order.
Distribution boards shall be of the bolt-on circuit breaker type.
Distribution boards construction shall be in accordance with IEC standards.
All distribution boards shall be installed in an environmentally controlled and pressurized
room. Units shall be rated for marine duty and for use in salt laden environments. All
mounting hardware shall be stainless steel (316).
20% spare breakers shall be provided in all distribution boards.
A circuit directory shall be installed at each distribution board identifying each branch
circuit.
Distribution boards shall be provided with lockable circuit breakers bolt on pad type.
Distribution boards shall be provided with one extra circuit breaker for every five active
circuits or fraction thereof. Approximately 50 % of the extra circuit breakers shall be
provided with a circuit protective device. The remaining extra circuit breakers shall be
provided with necessary facilities that require only the addition of the circuit protective
device for future use.
If specified in Datasheet, suitable door interlock shall be provided to prevent the opening
of the enclosure door with the main incoming breaker in close position.
The minimum ingress protection for distribution board shall be shall be IP56 with the
door closed and IP23 with enclosure door removed in accordance with IEC 60529.

3.3 BUSBARS
Distribution boards shall be provided with 3 Phase busbar assemblies and shall be rated
for the specified voltage and current rating on the attached corresponding distribution
boards one line diagram.

Busbars shall be of uniform cross-section throughout the length and shall be hard drawn
high conductivity tinned copper. Electrolytic grade copper busbars shall be per relevant
standards.
Busbars shall be fully insulated with flame retardant, non-hygroscopic material. The bus
bars shall have clearances per relevant standards and adequately supported to withstand
stresses developed due to short circuit.

3.4 CIRCUIT BREAKERS

Molded case circuit breakers shall be provided for the incoming and MCCB/MCB on the
outgoing feeders. Circuit breakers shall be rated for continuous operation as shown on the
one line diagram.
Molded case circuit breakers shall comply with and type tested to IEC 60947 and have
short circuit making and breaking capacity in conformity with prospective short circuit
current specified
Circuit breaker for the incoming feeder shall be of 3PH, 3Pole and for the outgoing
feeders shall be of 3Pole for 3PH feeders and of 2Pole for 2PH feeders.
Circuit breakers shall be equipped with tripping devices having inverse time
characteristics for overload and instantaneous characteristics for short circuit protection.

3.5 ANTICONDENSATION SPACE HEATER

Anti-condensation space heater shall be provided in the distribution boards. The power
supply for this shall be directly tapped from the main bus. The space heater shall be
suitable for 220V, 2PH power supply.
The space heater shall be equipped with 2Pole MCB and self- regulating thermostat.

3.6 GROUNDING
All metallic non-current carrying parts shall be bonded to the ground busbar in the
distribution boards.
Provision shall be made adjacent to the cable termination for terminating the ground
conductor and the cable armor to the ground bus.
A Ground bus bar shall be provided along the full length of the distribution boards.
Ground circuit wiring shall be identified by green/yellow insulation.

3.7 CABLE TERMINATION

The distribution boards shall be suitable for bottom cable entry for all incoming and
outgoing cables.
Cable terminating facilities and terminals shall be suitable for specified cable type and
size. Cable type/sizes shall be confirmed subsequent to order placement.
Positioning of cable terminals shall avoid obstruction of other cable terminations,
removable covers etc. and provide easy access for terminating cables.
