The plan should guide the LEAs use of education technology for the next three
years.

A brief overview of the LEA:


Technology changes rapidly nowadays, and it is very hard for educational leaders to
keep up-to-date with use of the educational technology in order help students in learning
as well as instructing the teachers.
Therefore this plan is planned to make proper arrangements and updates so students
obtain all the knowledge necessary and their learning skills are improved.
Educational leaders, technology professionals in education and parents have contributed
their time and effort to create this plan effectively.

Location: Nile Academy is established in the west end of Toronto, Ontario. The school
has a huge playground, two soccer fields, a volleyball court and a baseball field. Inside
our school there is a computer classroom with laptops and desktop computers available
for the students to do their assignments, projects etc. Nile Academy is a family like
peaceful school with three divisions in it. 50 % of the student population are Turkish, the
rest of the population are Somali, Russian and Afghani students.

The objective of the plan was aimed for five consecutive years and was approved by the
Executive Board. Parents and teacher were briefed and presented several orientations
in order execute the plan effectively.

that are supported by research.

With the help of various technological tools the Global World has become a small village,
it is easy to obtain any information, knowledge through the help of those tools. With the
help of those corner stones of the technology, we will help our students to be able to
compete and increase their knowledge and ability to learn, grow, share and be a part of
rapidly changing world.

Describe the connection between the research and the plans goals.

The traditional learning in this century is yielding education with technology by making a
variety of resources in depth and available. Therefore we can accept that there is an
inseparable connection here.

Describe information gathered from site visits, including best practices.

It reinforces the analytical and critical thinking as well as communication, partnership in


social media. These are vital to be able to compete, obtain innovative skills in the digital
world and become effective learners.

CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.


The Plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using
telecommunications and information technology to improve education services.

What technology is currently available to all teachers?

Generally, the technology that is available in schools, are smart boards, laptops,
desktop computers, electronic books, educational programs. The students are
able to use these technologies in various times, mainly in class.
School administration, Teachers even visiting parents are also able and
encouraged to use some of the programs mentioned above as well as extra
programs and technology tools for productive work and also to create a learning
and educational environment at school.

How is technology currently being used by teachers and administrators to


promote effective classroom instruction and school management?

Starting at the beginning of the back to school season, later on throughout the
year several times, there are number of orientation seminars are provided to our
teachers, administrative assistants, parents, as well as the administration on
using the technology, for example, smart boards, Google email, Google calendar
and document sharing programs, school attendance, evaluation and assessment
programs.
Students are also a part of these orientation seminars. They are taught on how to
use their electronic books, how to check their evaluation and assessment, how to
use programs for project researching, assignment presentations etc. All of these
plans are added in an Annual plan, and implementation is being inspected
regularly by the administration.

Is technology currently available to all students?

All of our students at school are able to use all the technology effectively. There
is an attendance schedule however, for our preschool students. They too use the
technology.
Our High school students are able to take their tablets home, prepare and work
on their projects. During lunch and after school, middle school and high school
are able to use the technology for an extended time under the supervision of the
teachers as well.

What replacement cycle has been built into the plan; and what funding is
needed to support the replacement policy?

Classroom tablets and desktops need an upgrade every two years. Funding has
been approved by the executive board on purchasing more Smart boards for
every classroom, and transition from projectors to smart boards will be much
more effective; this is aimed to be completed in four years. Preschool students
have been provided with iPads and necessary educational programs installed.

What are the LEAs curriculum goals and plans for assisting students to
meet content standards and demonstrate college and career readiness?

Our Local Educational Agency is encouraging all schools in our province, to


provide teachers and students with necessary technological tools for an effective
education. As well as to prepare high school students for colleges and
universities. The LEA would also expect that schools make sure that students are
ready to use and get familiar enough to communicate and prepare assignment at
university or college level.

How will technology be used to create more powerful learning experiences


to improve student academic achievement?

There are number of programs, digital tools to provide our students with an
effective learning experiences as well as improve them academically.
Presentation programs, researching and sharing, are some of the tools that
encourage students to achieve more productive experiences.

What LEA board policies will be or have been developed to implement


Internet safety instruction?

In the beginning of the year all students, teachers, and parents are given a series
of orientation about Student Handbook which in details describes the
responsibility of the students as well as the teachers regarding Internet Safety.
There are also programs available and actively used in our school to ensure
Internet safety and provide our students with a safe social media environment.

What materials will be used to instruct students about Internet safety,


including how to use technologies to protect themselves and their privacy
online?
Students are taught on appropriate and safe usage of the internet. Only age
appropriate activities will be available. School administrators and local public
protection services will be providing seminars regarding Internet predators, and
potentially dangerous activities.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT


The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff
understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services

How does your LEA regularly assess teachers and administrators


personal technology proficiency skills?

Annual Inspections organized by LEA is conducted to ensure proper integration


towards technology is commenced. Number of surveys prepared by the
Education and Accountability Office are filled. Administrators conduct weekly
meetings, discuss and motivate teachers to use technology effectively to educate
and help our students to learn efficiently.

What do teachers and administrators consider as their needs for


professional development?

Seminars, training and orientation are provided regularly to accommodate


technology in our provincial curriculum. Professional Developments include
effective usage of technology in education and implementing in the curriculum.

What professional learning will be available so teachers and administrators


can make informed decisions using data to meet individual student
academic needs?

Various software programs are part of the requirement for teachers and
administration to update evaluation and assessment of the students, attendance,
registration and school transfer of students, Report card programs, programs for
English as a Second Language teachers, Google shared email groups to ensure
close communication between staff and the administration etc.

What professional learning will be available so teachers and administrators


can effectively use technology to assist with student assessment?

Regular updates in evaluation and assessment programs, online additional


qualification courses, Assignment and feedback database programs will assist
students with student assessment.
INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND
ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA
The Plan must include an assessment of the telecommunication services,
hardware, software, asset management, and other services that will be needed to
improve education services.

What technology access do parents have at home? What technologies do


parents prefer for home/school communication?

Parents are provided individual accounts and passcodes for a database program
in order to follow up ad keep an eye on students improvement and evaluation.
Parents are also able to communicate with teachers and administration through
that database. Additionally, classroom email groups are created and parents are
able to inform teachers about their children.
Administration uses Club Texting programs for emergency contacts; severe
weather conditions etc.

What hardware/infrastructure currently exists at each school site?

Our school provides with desktop computers, tablets, and photocopier machines.
They are regularly maintained and kept updated for students use.

What technologies will teachers and administrators need to successfully


implement the plans goals and benchmarks?

Accuracy in yearly benchmarks is very important. Plans and implementation of


them need to be specific and in details. Purchasing specific technology items
from a specific provider is important as well.

What emerging technologies could be used to implement the plans goals?

Information technology managers are expected to make sure that servers in our
school are updated and maintained properly. This will help and ensure teachers
using internet, photocopier machines, cameras, database programs, etc.
effectively form their classrooms, staffrooms as well as home.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION COMPONENT
The plan must include an evaluation process that enables the school to monitor
progress toward the specific goals and make mid-course corrections in response
to new developments and opportunities as they arise.

Who will oversee the data collection, analysis, and program modification
process?

Information Technology team will oversee the data collection and share it with
executive board members, and school administrators to be discussed.

Who will participate in the monitoring and evaluation process?

In our school, school board members, school administrator, faculty leaders will
be participating in monitoring and evaluating the process. After revision, the
feedback will be provided to the executive board members and superintendent.

How often will data be collected and summarized? Who is responsible?

Data will be collected every two months; students also participate in answering
survey questions to aid for a productive data. School Principal is responsible for
a regular data collection. Finally, collected data will be discussed and necessary
accommodations will be made by the board and the administration of the school.

How often will the status of plan implementation be reported to the


LEA superintendent and the stakeholders?

The technology and digital media of plan is reported every three years. However,
the status of plan implementation is reported annually.
