Narrative Report

The height of the stairs in reaching my class was like climbing a mountain. It was very
tiring yet giving me some sort of exercise, such a good day to start my class. And yes, it
is my first period in the morning and I am so excited to meet my students. I usually
arrive before 10mins of our scheduled time because I need to open the laboratory
earlier. I believe that the teachers should exemplify the punctuality to the students
because it is useless to give reminders if we teachers dont have the initiative to do our
responsibility.

The laboratory is quite dark so I switch on the light. Ive notice that the floor is dusty, so I
quickly grab the softbroom and swept the floor. I also erased the writings on the white
board so that it would not consume time before our discussion starts. Few minutes after,
I heard consecutive knocks from the door, several mumblings dominates the quietness
of the area. This is the indication that my students are now waiting outside, so I
immediately opened the door.

Grade 11 Humss-Comenius contains 39 students. I can say these students are

dynamic and show interest in learning, being diverse in any other beliefs and religion
they are harmoniously working each other towards holistic learning. I usually start with
an opening prayer, I requested them one by one to create a personal prayer each time
we meet they will deliver it to the class. After a short prayer, I wear a smile and always
greet them, Goodmorning class. Our subject is Empowerment Technology and the
topic is Online Netiquette. I asked them several questions, one is how do they behave
online using the Facebook as a social network? One of the students named Emmanuel
said that he will post a certain message by thinking first the consequence if that
message would hurt the feelings of another person applying the concept of think before
you click. This is very true that social media is sometimes rooted in different problems
such as dilemma or conflict. I explained the definition of netiquette including the tips on
how to stay safe online. One of the important tips that I gave to them is dont share their
password. Some students reacted because they are apparently sharing their password
to their love ones specially their boyfriends and girlfriends, and the reason why they give
their password is to gain the trust of their love ones. The personal things should be kept
in private, if the person wants to get the password we should not give because this is
actually invading our privacy as I elaborated to them. I shared also not to post future
vacations on social media because criminals can easily set a crime that will cause our
life to end. After 25mins of discussion, I gave them a group activity creating a simple
role play on how to manage proper behavior online applying the tips discussed, the
group shall compose of 8members each ranging to 3-4minutes.
Here are the rubrics that I gave.

Obviously, they created noise but not to the extent that they disturb the other rooms. It
was a market of information and brainstorming. Ive notice the active participation of
each member of the group. I can see the faces of my students that they really like the
activity. I believe this would make them more aware of the online rules and principles
by eliminating their bad behavior and strengthening their security on the internet. The 8
groups performed very well some displayed online chatting using their phone, they also
created advertisements for TV/Radio, integrating social media to education regarding
suspension of classes adapting it to real life situations. I enjoyed watching them, they
had fun even though some were little nervous to perform their script. They finished the
activity with colors on their faces knowing the good results of evaluation. So far, they
deserved a round of applause giving their best efforts.

After that, I recapitulated all their outputs and made some point that we ourselves, we
can make a difference, by simply following the tips we had learn we can influence other
people to become a good person not only in social media but also in real life situation.
The essence of social media is not to accumulate idolatry or to impress people but
rather on how we convey the message or information to the people and that you have
become a good netizen-a person that is part of the online community .

I ended the discussion by reflecting to this quote We dont have the choice on whether
we do social media, the question is how well we do it, followed by a closing prayer.
