WhilestillusingtheMeisnerRepetitionexercise,theactorstrytobeckoneachothertotheirsideofthe
room.Thesimpleobjectiveistogetthepartnertocrossanimaginaryline,whichwedetermineinthe
spacebeforebeginningtheexercise.

Thereare,ofcourse,manymoreactionsanactorcanplay.Butthesesixarecalledbasicbecausetheyare
1)boldandtheatrical,and2)theyarenottiedtoatext,orstory.First,itisboldertocelebrateanother
personthanitistoenjoythemcelebrateimpliesanexpansive,physicalactivity,ratherthanapassive
action.Toseduceisbolderthantocharmorcajole,etc.Andsecond,tosteal,forexample,suggestsatext
ofsortsstealingwhat,fromwhom,etc.Itimpliesthatthereisastoryinvolved.Butthesesixcanbe
performedimmediately andtheatricallyyoudontneedastorytosupportthereadingbehindtheaction.
