The ask three before me rule is a technique that I use in
3 my classroom. If my students have a question they must
ask three of their peers before asking the teacher. I also
have students follow a Show Three Before Me rule where
b students have three peers look over their work before
submitting that assignment. When I introduced this activity
e to students we discussed the importance of peer review.
The students reviewing their peers work would leave
f comment on the assignment, which meant the peer had to
read over the students assignment and check if it meet all
o of the requirements.

Above is a student essay that was reviewed by three of her peers. Each
student had to read over the essay and leave a comment on a post-it
after they reviewed their work. One student in the student work above ,
praised their peer on siting evidence from the test. Next steps will be
peers making suggestions as well as complementing their peers work.

The Choose 3 Ways activity helps scholars learn to strive for accuracy by
asking students to choose 3 ways to solve one math problem. An activity like

a Students had to solve a ratio problem: Steve was practicing for a marathon.
The first day he ran 3 miles in 36 minutes, the second day we ran 6 miles
y in 72 minutes. How long will it take him to run 9 miles if he kept the same
speed? Each student chose to do a ratio table and a proportion as two ways
s to find the answer. The student above set up division and multiplication
facts to check if their answer was correct, while the other two students used
a double tape diagram to solve the problem.
