Observation Task 4: Observing a teacher during a Science Lesson

Objective
To observe Science teaching in action and begin to understand effective strategies for
Science teaching and learning in groups.

Procedure

You will need a copy of the Observation Table:

Before the Observation

Arrange to observe a lesson that focuses on Science and discuss the lesson with
the teacher beforehand, so you can know the Objectives and the lesson
development.
Ask the teacher what strategies she will use to help her deliver the lesson.
Get an idea of the Inquiry/experiment the students will do.

Objective:
learn the steps of the plants growing and the parts of the plant.
Strategies:
The teacher is singing a song about the know words for the students.
The teacher is using objects to explain the idea.
The teacher is using reputation with the students.
The teacher put for the students a national song while they are answering the questions in the
book.

Inquiry/Experiment
Before the lesson the teacher asked the students to planting a plant a observed how it will

During the Observation

Complete the Table and make notes in the appropriate column on:

She was putting for the students a song while they are doing the activities.

In the begging of the lesson she was presenting the she was engaging the students to do
the activities in groups.

In the begging od the lesson. Because, this period that the teacher start explaining the idea
of the lesson. Also, when she was explaining the activities.

When the teacher finish explaining the lesson and when the students finish of the
