PIANO MUSIC OF FREDERIC CHOPIN


(MUSIC OF THE ROMANTIC PERIOD)

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. identify the selected romantic period music being played
b. narrate the life and musical works of Frederic Chopin
c. explore other arts and media that portray romantic period elements

II. SUBJECT MATTER

TOPIC: Piano Music of Frederic Chopin

B. UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES:

Piano- is a musical instrument played using a keyboard, which is a


row of keys that the performer presses down with the fingers and
thumb.
Music- is one of the best tools for expressing ones feelings.
Piano Music- evident in the Romantic Period
Romantic Period- is described as the cultural movement that stressed
emotion, imagination, individualism and freedom of expression. It
was characterized by expanding the formal structure within a
composition and making the pieces more passionate and expressive.
Romantic Music- refers to Western music compared in the late 18th
century to the 19th century.

C. MOTIVATION:
Paint Me!
The class will be divided into five (5) groups. Let the students paint/ picture
out the scene being asked for with proper emotions and feelings using their body.
No human sounds and movements allowed.

D. ACTIVITY:
Music Match
The class with their same groupings in the Paint Me! will determine the
kind of Piano Music that will be played. Each group will be given 10 cards of the
correct answers. They must cooperatively complete and correctly label the 8 cards
in connection with the music that will be played and the description given on the
board. As soon as the 8 musical pieces has been delivered, a representative of the
group will post their cards on their respective group table on the board and will
present it to the class.

E. ANALYSIS:
Lead the learners to the discussion on the life and musical works of
Frederic Chopin.

F. ABSTRACTION:
Let the students reflect on the importance of nationalism of the Filipino
people or love for the country of every Filipino people through the music
recording of Frederic Chopins Fantasie Impromptu Op. 66.
G. APPLICATION:
Have the students make a slogan showing ways on being a nationalist of
the Filipino people while playing the music of Frederic Chopin: Sonata.

IV. EVALUATION

Identify what is being asked by the following statements. Write your


answer on a sheet of paper.

Listen and study the musical pieces of the mentioned Romantic
musicians.
