Resumo: Este artigo rene as informaes sobre as relaes entre a ocluso dentria e a formao da
embocadura do flautista, encontradas na literatura pedaggica e mdica (ortodntica e fonoaudiolgica), e
comunica os resultados parciais de um projeto que pretende elucidar as implicaes pedaggicas trazidas
pelas classes de ocluso dentria neste processo.
Abstract: This article gathers information about the relations between occlusion and embouchure
formation, that were found in the literatures pedagogical and medical (orthodontical, and phonological),
and communicates the partial results of a project that aims elucidate the pedagogical implications bringed
about occlusion in this process.

ao posicionamento dos dentes. Boehm (1871, p.135) afirmou que uma boa embocadura
depende em grande parte de uma formao normal de lbios e dentes. Taffanel e
Gaubert7 (1923, p.7) enumeraram entre as qualidades necessrias a formao da
embocadura a regularidade dos dentes, queixo em posio no proeminente, e queixo
levemente cncavo. Os autores orientaram que para executar os saltos, deveria ser
evitado o movimento do queixo, e movimentar somente os lbios que resultariam em
um movimento de vai e vem do bocal produzido pela relaxar e tencionar dos lbios.
