turas so afectadas pelo crescimento turstico o que suscita a presso de agentes regio-
nais e ambientais. Deste modo, os SIG constituem uma ferramenta ecaz no desenho e
monitorizao do desenvolvimento turstico (Holm-Pedersen, 1994; Chen, 2007). De
seguida, apresentado o conceito de um sistema de informao integrado para suporte
do negcio turstico e da dinmica dos agentes envolvidos. So descritos os seus objec-
tivos, requisitos tecnolgicos e a componente SIG que o pode enriquecer, permitindo
aos decisores explorar o potencial da dimenso geogrca dos dados. A informao
georeferenciada acrescenta rigor anlise dos projectos que possam deteriorar o ambiente
ou os recursos locais, bem como das reas onde os projectos possam ter uma maior
visibilidade7 (Selman et al., 1991).
