Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Before the lesson as a class we will talk about what the key elements of a story are and why they are
important (such as the plot, setting, problem and solution). Once I see that the students have an
understanding of a storys elements we will move into reading a short book. As I read the short book to the
students they will be jotting down key details that they notice. Once I am finished with the book I will have
the students tell me if they need to hear the book again. If they do, I will reread. If not, we will move onto the
Socratives Quiz. I will split up the students randomly into groups assigned by Socratives. Then I will tell them
they will be answering questions based on the story we just read.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common

completed.

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the students are done answering the questions I will take back the Ipads or laptops they had been using
and we will have a class discussion. We will first talk about the questions that were missed the most and
discuss what the correct answer is and why the other answers were not the best possible answer to be
chosen.

How will the data be used?

The students average will be collected from this short quiz that they took. They will not receive an actual
grade for this assignment with it being very new material. But we will talk about the answers so that the
students can benefit from this activity. I will be taking the answers and discussions seriously in order to make
my next SRT activity better.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

My personal learning goal for this activity was to help the students engage and motivate them. When the
students take quizzes, tests, or have to write papers it can cause anxiety and they might loose their train of
thought or focus. SRT activities are awesome for keeping the students engaged. It is also helpful for students
because they are able to see the results instantly and are able to participate in discussions in class.
