Introduction
Blackboard is a website used at different universities for learning purposes and to enhance
teaching and learning efforts. It allows students to do a lot such as classwork, homework, view
grades etc. As well as it allows teachers to grade assignments, view them, give out notes
(PowerPoints) etc. The following pages present in detail on how to operate blackboard for the
Statistical Methods in Criminal Justice and Criminology course. Using this manual will help
guide you and lead you towards success in this course. Before you begin, you will need the
following materials: Phone or Laptop (Preferably laptop)

Glossary

Criminology: The scientific study of crime and criminals.


Criminal: A person who has committed a crime.
Justice: Just behavior or treatment.
Statistical: Relating to the use of statistics.
Methods: A particular form of procedure for accomplishing or approaching something,
especially a systematic or established one.

Syllabus: An outline of the subjects in a course of study or teaching.


Schedule: A plan for carrying out a process or procedure, giving lists of intended events and
times.

Portal: An Internet site providing access or links to other sites.
