Biology 310

Presentations
Each group should cover the following information about each disease or disorder
Etiology
Signs/ symptoms
Pathogenesis
Sequela
Diagnosis
Therapy/ treatment
Prognosis

Each member of the group will be responsible for a specific aspect of the disease/ disorder. Each
student will receive a grade (maximum 40 points) based on their individual performance. Evaluations
will include the following:
Proper use of notes (Talk to us; do NOT read to us!)
Grammar and pronunciation
Knowledge of the subject (YOU are the expert.)
Use of the current literature
Use of numerical data (e.g., demographic information, graphs, charts, etc.)
Organization of material
Ability to explain complex subjects (YOU are the teacher!)
Use of visual aids
Observation of time- 15 minutes total for each group (Please stay within the allotted time.)

A short Q & A period will follow each group presentation.

Each member of the group will prepare a 2-3 page outline (handout) with a literature-cited page for
his/her portion of the presentation for all classmates. This outline should NOT be a copy of the
presenters power point presentation. The outline should reference page numbers from the textbook.
The material in the textbook is good background information; your presentation should expand on this
and include current information and alternative theories.

All students must read this section of the text BEFORE the presentation!
