General Instructions to Students

1 mark will be deducted by default for failure to follow format and instructions.
Zero marks will be given for failure to complete and submit the assignment.
Late submission will not be entertained.
Plagiarism is a serious offence. The lecturer has the rights not to accept submission
of plagiarised or duplicated work.
Plagiarism include the following behaviours (but not limited to):
o copy another students work,
o hire or ask another individual to complete the assignment for you,
o copy too many words or ideas from one or two sources, that makes up a
significant portion of your work, even with proper citation.

Group work
Each group member must actively participate in the completion of the assignment.
Free-riding is unethical and extremely unfair to fellow group members.
Each group member is expected to keep the contact numbers and e-mail addresses
of the other members of the group.
The group leader has the responsibility to ensure that all group members play a part
in the completion of the assignment. The group leader is also responsible to ensure
that all members names are written on the final submission.
It is the responsibility of each group member to ensure that the final submission is
complete and of the acceptable standard. Should any errors or omission occurred in
the final submission, each group member is held accountable for negligence in
other words, failure to perform their responsibilities as expected.

Specific Instructions to Students

1. Form a group consisting of 5 members per group.
2. Each group is required to record a role play of client interview exercise.
o 2 students to act as lawyers
o 2 students to act as clients
o Other student as director/recorder
3. The recording of client interview session shall not be more than 10 minutes
(excluding the introduction of role play and ending).
4. The client interview shall incorporate the relevant principles that you have
learned from the lectures and tutorials, including but not confined to the
questioning techniques, ethics, etc. Marks will also be given based on the
creativity.
5. There are no specific topics or area. Advisable to do topics that you have learnt
such as contracts and constitutional law. Other area: Criminal law, family law,
torts etc. You may invent the necessary facts about the case as required in the
interview.
6. Transfer the recorded interview into a CD and submit to Mr Azizie by week 7.
7. You are also required to prepare and submit a brown file which consist of the
following documents and forms:
a) Facts of the case
b) Checklist
c) Interview forms
d) Retainer Agreement
e) Other relevant documents/forms
