Competency 001:

The teacher understands human development processes and applies this knowledge to plan instruction
and ongoing assessment that motivate students and are responsive to their developmental
characteristics and needs.

The teacher would have to plan a lesson for all the different learning styles and techniques. If they were
to plan it, any different than the kids that learn faster would be at an advantage and the kids that learn
slower are at a disadvantage.

Competency 002:

The teacher understands student diversity and knows how to plan learning experiences and design
assessments that are responsive to differences among students and that promote all students learning.

The teacher has to be fair to all students weather they are white, black, or tan. No matter the religion of
the teacher or child, one is not greater than the other and teachers should not tell students that it is.

Competency 003:

The teacher understands procedures for designing effective and coherent instruction and assessment
based on appropriate learning goals and objectives.

Teachers have to make their lesson plans based on teks that the states provide. The objectives are the
teks reworded to make sense to students if you want them to know what exactly they are learning.

Competency 004:

The teacher understands learning processes, factors that impact student learning, and demonstrates
this knowledge by planning effective, engaging instruction and appropriate assessments.

The teachers are being taught how to help students with disabilities. They are figuring out some tricks to
help dyslexic student, for example see through color film can be placed over pages in books to help keep
students focused and on track.

Competency 005:

The teacher knows how to establish a classroom climate that fosters learning, equity and excellence and
uses this knowledge to create a physical and emotional environment that is safe and productive.

Competency 006:

The teacher understands strategies for creating an organized and productive learning environment and
for managing student behavior.

This is where teachers give a lecture over how to do the things that will be on the work they give.

Competency 007:

The teacher understands and applies principles and strategies for communicating effectively in varied
teaching and learning contexts.
The teacher could do both verbal and visual communication for students who may not be able to hear as
well as other people.

Competency 008:

The teacher provides appropriate instruction that actively engages students in the learning process.

This could be where the teacher explains what they want the students to do as a project with some form
of research.

Competency 009:

The teacher incorporates the effective use of technology to plan, organize, deliver and evaluate
instruction for all students.

The teacher creates a power point in alphabetical order to present to the entire class.

Competency 010:

The teacher monitors student performance and achievement; provides students with timely, high-
quality feedback; and responds flexibly to promote learning for all students.

A teacher gives students a writing assignment and when they grade it, they give constructive criticism
and instead of marking points off for spelling just spell it correctly beside the original.

Competency 011:

The teacher understands the importance of family involvement in childrens education and knows how
to interact and communicate effectively with families.

Ag teachers get parents involved with their kids projects by having them help haul students, cattle
projects, even welders and metal anything to show that the parents care.

Competency 012:

The teacher enhances professional knowledge and skills by effectively interacting with other members
of the educational community and participating in various types of professional activities.

Ag teachers hold conferences to discuss when different contests should be and to make sure that as
many students and teachers are there as possible.

Competency 013:

The teacher understands and adheres to legal and ethical requirements for educators and is
knowledgeable of the structure of education in Texas.

Teachers should not mess around with students or get involved with family matters directly; if they
suspect abuse at home then they should report it to the authorities.
