INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC SECTOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT

INSTRUCTIONS
A. GROUP RESEARCH (5% + 5%=10%)

1. Each student group (5 members) select any organization of your choice in the
Public Sectors (Federal, States and Local Government) and to research a topic of
interest related to issue on Quality Management.

Example organization of choice:-

Ministries
Government Departments and Agencies
Local Governments
Statutory Bodies

Topic for research:- For example :- Quality in Practice

Quality Infrastructure
Customer Satisfaction
Quality Improvement & Innovation

2. Assignment requirement and activities:-

Form a group; identify group leader and jobs to be delegated.
Analyze the chosen organization based on five aspects;

2.1 Introduction (background & objectives) of the public sector organization

2.2 Implementation of the quality in practice
2.3 Evaluation of the implementation
2.4 Challenges face by the organization
2.5 Suggestion and conclusion

Prepare written assignment by obtaining information through secondary data

collections (Literature Review) and site visit (optional)

INSTRUCTION

B. LOG REPORT (10%)

1. The experience of writing in a log/ journal can be an exhausting experience

for students. Students will start to write in their log/journal entry beginning
their first class for this course.

2. Writing entries may be as short as a word or a sentence, or as long as

several pages. Visual log/journal entries are also encouraged, including short
newspaper cutting, abstract of a journal, sketches etc.

3. Students must make sure to start writing after each class so that they would
not lose their understanding of the topic discussed in the lecture and tutorial.
Missing a day is not failure but the goal is to keep a journal to document a
semester of student activities in understanding a course in Introduction to
Public Sector Quality Management.( Advice: a weekly log/journal entries will
help to cover each topic discuss by lecturer each week).

4. Log/journal report must be properly file, documented and indexed.

5. Report will be collected and evaluated by lecturer twice in a semester. Marks

will be given based on originality and consistency in writing.

6. Students are encouraged to come up with current and new ideas of the topic
that eventually improve their log/journal report.

Notes: Marks will be accumulated base on the first and second report
scores.
