Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will use the brief video on shapes to introduce the concept to
students. The video will be used to engage students and get them excited. After viewing the video, the teacher
will ask students to generate the names of as many shapes as they can, they may have learned them from the
video or it may have been prior knowledge. We will then explore the attributes and properties of various
shapes and practice identifying them.
Students will then be separated into groups of four. Each group will identify at least three shapes in our
classroom. With the help of the teacher, the students will photograph the shapes they identify using iPads. The
teacher will then call all the students to the front carpet where they will create an iMovie as a class, using the
pictures they took. The iMovie will be posted to the class blog for parents and students to reference in the
future.

Importance of technology: Using iMovie is critical to this learning experience because it is first used to engage
students and get them thinking about what they already know. Then as a class we utilize iMovie to extend
learning and create a meaningful experience. iMovie supports struggling learners because they may access the
video at a later time to refresh their memory. The project could be completed without iMovie, But I do not feel
it would be as meaningful of an experience for students. iPads are also necessary for taking the pictures to use
in iMovie.

In order to minimize risks to students, they would not include their names or faces in the video. They will not
be indentifiable from the video.I would let parents and administration know about the activity prior to
completing it. I would also ensure that we are using our own original images in the video to comply with
copyright issues.
