Wind whistles through his ears, slicing and winding through the flora, adrenaline courses

throughout his body, with each breath his lungs are invigorated by the cool mountain air.
Snowsports, but more specifically skiing is the only sport thatll give you this sensation. Yes,
skiing may be plenty of fun, but how does it benefit people? And will the trend of light snowfall in
recent years continue to hurt ski companies? Skiing is incredibly enjoyable, easy to learn, great
for ones mind and body and although many skiing companies have faced hardships in recent
years due to low snowfall new technologies pose to put a halt to this.
If you havent been convinced by the already appealing nature of the sport, heres some
additional information that explains why you should start skiing. First, the initial learning curve to
skiing requires little skill. As we all know, walking around is pretty simple, it's the most natural
mode of transport. Skiing is just as easy, as it requires very similar independent leg movement.
Once a novice to the slopes learns to turn, more specifically snowplow turn, the rest of their
journey should be a breeze. Even more difficult techniques such as parallel turns, can be
learned within the first few days of snapping on some skis. However, this does not mean the
sport can be easily mastered, in fact many advanced skiers learn how to ski incorrectly initially,
and a few years later fix their bad habits. You could spend your entire skiing career using the
wrong techniques and many people do, but as soon as they approach more advanced slopes
everything goes downhill, literally. You will only master bumpis and off-piste with style when
you learn to pivot your feet beneath you while keeping your upper body still and facing down the
slope.(Bell) Also, many forget that skiing in itself is an awesome skill to know. Plenty of people
enjoy the sport and love carabanning to the tips of the mountains with friends. It beats sitting on
the couch for the entirety of your break. Additionally, skiing is physical exercise, but a lot of
people seem to forget this because the sport is so incredibly fun and action packed. Forget the
gym, and embark on an adventure of powder and adrenaline. Lastly, if team sports arent your
thing? Then get on a pair of skis and just have fun, no competitiveness, just you and the snow.
The buzz you get out of skiing and all action sports cant be compared to anything else.
Adrenaline + Achievement = Rad Times.(WhitestormBlog) With your newfound skiing intel, now
youll never have an excuse not to try the sport at the least.
Another compelling reason to ski might be the impressive psychological benefits the
sport has to offer. Going into the mountains and skiing offers a change of scenery and routine
which has been proven to reduce levels of anxiety. Many claim self-perpetuating thoughts
disappear almost completely whilst bombing the slopes. Also, A good workout through skiing
during the daytime at least three hours before your bedtime will help to improve the quality of
your sleep. According to the National Sleep Foundation, a healthy night's sleep helps regulate
your mood, improves your memory and ability to learn and helps promote a healthy weight and
energy level.(azcentral.com) Likewise, combining the use of your muscles and brain to be able
dart down a run has been proven to reduce stress related chemicals and release plenty of
endorphins. In turn, this boosts ones ability to think clearly, learn, and make good life decisions.
There isnt too much compelling evidence about whether or not climate change will
continue to have a lasting and dangerous impact upon skiing companies, but it seems as
though fate is in their favor. With dozens of mountain resorts from Mount Shasta to Big Bear
Lake, California is second only to Colorado economic activity from skiing, snowboarding, and
the snowmobile industry and the state thus has much to lose, according to the report.(Pamer)
Low snowfall has hurt resorts such as Kirkwood and Sugar Bowl pretty badly the last couple of
years. With little to no powder lining the slopes, and nothing left behind but an icy slush much of
the time, it made it increasingly hard for the resorts to sell tickets. At the same time however,
many snow parks are now implementing the production of artificial snow. While it is a costly and
time consuming proposition to many resorts, it provides a clear-cut solution to a dire problem.
Local resorts such as Heavenly and Boreal, have experimented with the technology in recent
years and plan to continue the use of it in the future. Accordingly, Heavenly and Boreal were
some of the most profitable ski resorts in the Sierras, so it makes sense to continue research
and investment in these technologies. With the current urgency resorts are researching
implementation methods of artificial snow, we could have snow lined slopes once more in the
most unfortuitous of seasons.
Skiing in an incredibly beneficial and adrenaline-filled sport with plenty of fun incentives
to get people on the slopes. And with the problem of climate change soon to be largely
eliminated in some areas, there arent many arguments against investing in the sport. Let that
be you cutting through the powder with the cool mountain air racing against your face.
