The mission of the North Tahoe High School counseling
department and support team is to develop lifelong learners
and scholars who pursue knowledge and enlightenment
through positive relationships, seek continued education
and experience, and become active and positive members
of their community. We believe all students have multiple
opportunities to be great and collaborate as a team to help
each individual reach their full potential through a
comprehensive, ?data inspired? and solution focused
academic, college & career, and social/emotional school
counseling program. This mission is represented in our
NTHS LAKER graduation goals that promote students

- Every student has the ability to achieve great things in the

academic, career, and personal/social domains, which
promotes college and career readiness.
- Parents and school staff, but most importantly ? the scholars,
are responsible for pursuing knowledge, asking questions, and
advocating for the success of all.
- Scholars and parents will be treated with respect, dignity, and
responsibility. The school expects the same respect, dignity,
and responsibility in return.
- Every scholar has a voice worthy to be heard. We value open,
honest, and respectful communication.
- School counselors are advocates for scholars and families in
need ? providing support, resources, and referrals to maximize
scholar and family wellness.
- Data is paramount to driving a strong comprehensive school
counseling program ? it must be collected, analyzed, and used
for programmatic change.
- The department follows the ASCA Ethical Standards for School
Counselors to ensure that each individual?s privacy and rights
are respected except in cases mandated by law or with
permission of the individual party.
