1. Title of the Research project

The title of the research project should be brief, precise, specific, instructive
and unambiguous. It should be prepared or written in a way that catches the
attention of the reader.

2. Summary of the proposal (maximum 1 page)

The summary should be brief and precise outline of the most relevant topics to
be addressed including problem statement, the proposed objective,
methodology, main expected outcome and time frame and budget allocation
of the project

3. Introduction/Review (maximum of two pages)

The introduction and/or review should include: the background and the state
of the art of your field of study: including the essential references; the most
relevant national and international works in the same or related fields of study.
Here the rational for the project and the relevance of this project should be
clearly identified and stated.

3
4. Objective of the project

The objective should show what the project would like to contribute. It is clear that
the objectives are changes that we would like to see happening at the end of the
project life. Therefore, very clear general and/or specific objectives that should follow
the principle of SMART (i.e Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time
bound) would be put in place in this part.

4.1. Describe the reasons to present this proposal and the initial hypothesis which
support its objectives (maximum 20 lines)

4.2. Indicate the background and previous results of your research work or
other related works that support the initial hypothesis

4.3. Describe briefly the objectives of the project (the target to achieve).

5. Methodology or Research Plan

The methodology to tackle the formulated statement of problem should be explicitly
described irrespective of the research approach (Experimental, modelling, field survey

4
etc...). Moreover, the tasks should identified and explicitly assigned for person in
charge of this particular task
The research plan should contain the tasks, milestones and deliverables.
For each task, it must be indicated the centre to be conducted and the
number of researchers involved.
If personnel costs are requested, the tasks to be developed by the
personnel to be hired must be detailed and justified.

Example for Task Description

Task A: Synthesis and characterization of synergetic hybrid material
Responsible person: Mr. Y
Duration: Five weeks
Aim of this task: To obtained active and stable catalyst that can be applied in waste
treatment
Facilities needed: Autoclave reactor, oven with temperature controlled, list of chemicals

Task B: Kinetic modeling for biogas production

Responsible person: Mr. X
Duration: Ten weeks
Aim of this task: To obtain a realistic kinetic model for digester design
Facilities needed: Batch bio-reactor, Matlab or other software to simulate the obtained
experimental result with the existing or new developed model

N.B: Repeat this step as many task you have.

5
6. Chronogram (time schedule with detail tasks and work for assignation)

The ways or methods and tools of monitoring and evaluation that we are likely
to apply in our project should clearly show the schedule and approaches in our
proposal so that one can easily follow up our progress. The Gant chart should
include deliverable tasks, milestone of the project. Please adapt table 1 while
you develop your Gant chart.

Tasks or Activities Start End October November December January February March April May

7. Benefits derived from the project, diffusion and exploitation of results

(maximum 1 page)

In this part the following items must be described:

Scientific and technical contributions expected from the project, potential
application or transfer of the expected results in the short, medium or large
term, benefits derived from the increase of knowledge and technology.
Diffusion plan and, if appropriate, exploitation plan of the results.

8. Background of the researcher

Indicate the previous activities and achievements of the researcher in the field of
related projects:
If the project is related to other previously granted, you must indicate the
objectives and the results achieved in the previous project.
If the project approaches a new research field, the background and
previous contributions of the research group (departments) in this field
must be indicated in order to justify the capacity of the group (department)
to carry out the project.
