Questions regarding the BA thesis:

What is the subject of your BA thesis?

What problems we may encounter when translating from English to Romanian.

What is the topic of your BA thesis?

Translating cultural terms from English to Romanian.

How did you select the subject for your paper?

My professor gave me the idea.

Where did you get the idea for your research paper topic?

My professor gave me the idea.

Phrase your subject as a question and answer it briefly.

Do translators have difficulties when they translate from English to Romanian?

Yes, of course. Every translation puts the translator in difficulty sometimes. You have to take
into account the target language so it makes a fusion with the source language. There are
terms that dont exist, or they have no translation in the targeted language, so the translator
has to find a way to make the text comprehensive for the Romanian reader, in our case.

Phrase your topic as a question and answer it briefly.

Does the translation of cultural terms raise problems when translating?

Probably one of the greatest problem in translating refers to cultural terms. When translating
them you have to consider both cultures (English culture and Romanian culture) as being
totally opposed, so you have to do your best to explain the terms from the source language
(English) in order to make the reader (Romanian) understand the other culture in his own
way.

My BA thesis presents the problems one could have when translating from English to
Romanian, especially when encountering cultural terms. Now, you may wonder why did i choose
to talk about this problem, and why we should give importance to such a topic.
When in second year of high school, I wanted to read a book, "Jane Eyre", but I didn't
have the time to read it in English so I read it Romanian. While reading i was running across this
word:"porridge" and I didn't know what it meant. But now I do. But still, there are so many other
words belonging to this culture that someone may not know the meaning of so I decided to help
in finding a way to translate those terms into romanain so any romanian reader understand what
he's reading.

I will beging by explaining why do we need to talk about cultural terms, because as we
know, the English language had, and had an impact on our language, I will also show you this. (
