The Wrong Thing of Legislative and Presidential Voting

The legislative and presidential election is only many days again. In April 9th April
2009 Indonesia will have a big party, public party, that we call PEMILU. Although
PEMILU is big, great, and decide Indonesia’s future, for the next 5 years it still has
many little wrong things and now become big wrong thing from 4 aspects. From
KPU, candidates, voters, and parties.

KPU changed the procedure to vote, so some people become confused, because
before vote by check list, Indonesia votes by perforate. People’s confused are also
because of the education level of Indonesia is still middle lower, so people of
Indonesia feel confused to vote now. With this changed, KPU only give some little
socialization of new procedure to vote. This problem more and more increase
people’s confused. Whereas the infrastructure and service of KPU isn’t increase
that must be comparable with the time.

The second thing of the wrong are the candidates. The candidate is still give some
fake commitment. Even, some artist become the legislative candidate. They are
only use their popularity without skill and quality. This thing more and more
increase the bad things of Indonesia’s government.

Almost all parties said that their decision for the Vice Presidential Candidate as the
running mate of their presidential Candidate will not be made before the legislative
Election in April 2009, because they weren’t ure if they could win a large share of
people’s vote to reflect their Political Party’s strength in the eyes of the people of
Indonesia. It is really hard to predict what make upthe best choice of the people of
Indonesia for choosing their Legislative Representative Candidates.

The outcomeof the Legislative Rep Election will therefore have a very determining
factor to allow any political party to propose their Presedential Election on July 9,
2009, if their election result give them more than 20% of people’s votes.

But, how people can choose among the so many Legisltive Rep Candidates that
now being paraded along the cities of Indonesia? There are Legislative Rep
Candidates with their photograps and names shown on banners along the streets
of Indonesia, some are young and beautiful, handsome, artist or actors, some are
old and wise or look frightening like a powerful ruler, or friendly ith smiles, known as
a nice guy in his/her neighbourhood, and some are known as unfriendly. Thus most
likely that the Legislative Rep that have a better chance to be chosen by the people
of Indonesia are those that have a better appearance as shown in the posters laid
along the streets of Indonesia. Thus we can say that this current election is the
battle of appearance on the posters.

Some party is also do some wrong thing. The party of Indonesia is too much, so it’s
more difficult to choose, such as in an advertisement said on TV, “makin banyak
pilihan, makin sulit milihnya.” (more much option, more difficult to choose). So,
party isn’t look as political organization anymore, but it became look as an
organization for look for some a solution of Indonesia’s goverment. This things can
look from some party that recruit some artist to become legislative candidate, so
the party more vote by people and can get more “chair” in Senayan, without think
about the quality. So, we can say that some party of Indonesia is only Quantity, no
Quality.
