Ans. The main aim of the United Nations is to prevent war in the world. One way of reaching a
lasting state of peace is to remove as many causes of discontent as possible. The United
Nations study living conditions in all parts of the world and help in the fight against poverty,
ignorance, disease, and social and political injustice.

Ans. UNICEF stands for United Nations International Childrens Fund. UNICEF is the friend of
children all over the world. It specializes in relief of children. It also provides medicines and
transport to World Health Organization. These two organizations worked together in
Indonesia in 1950 and cured 1.3 million people who were suffering from yaws.

Ans. FAO stands for Food and Agriculture Organization. FAO was started in 1943 to deal with the
