- Pre-reading activities
Capture their attention. Tell pupils, Its story time! Write the title on the board
and show the pictures to the students. Let them guess what the text is about.
Connect to prior knowledge: Write these jumbled words on the board. Tell
pupils that only the last three letters ing are in the correct order. Pupils work in
pairs unjumbling the words:
1. c c y l i n g (cycling) 2. c d n a i n g (dancing)
3. g n i s i n g (singing) 4. t c a i n g (acting)
5. a r d e i n g (reading) 6. m w i s m i n g(swimming)
Pupils use the words to say sentences beginning I like or I dont like.
- While-reading activities
Re-reading for better comprehension: After reading the story once to get the
major idea, students answer some questions. They will need to read the text
again for specific information.
Spot the error: Give students some sentences with wrong information. They will
read the text again and correct the mistakes making affirmative and negative
sentences in present simple tense.

Describing a scene: Pupils use some given words and phrases to help them
write about the photo on page 2.
