Amphetamine[note 1] (contracted from alpha-

methylphenethylamine) is a potent central


nervous system (CNS) stimulant that is used in
the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD), narcolepsy, and obesity.
Amphetamine was discovered in 1887 and
exists as two enantiomers:[note 2]
levoamphetamine and dextroamphetamine.

3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA),[note 1]
commonly known as ecstasy (E), is a psychoactive drug
used primarily as a recreational drug. The desired
recreational effects include increased empathy, euphoria, and
heightened sensations.[13][14][15] When taken by mouth, effects
begin after 3045 minutes and last 36 hours.[11][16] As of
2017, MDMA has no accepted medical uses.

Loperamide, sold under the brand name Imodium among


others,[1] is a medication used to decrease the frequency
of diarrhea.[2] It is often used for this purpose in
gastroenteritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and short
bowel syndrome.[2] It is not recommended for those with
blood in the stool.[2] The medication is taken by mouth.[

Mefenamic acid is a member of the anthranilic acid


derivatives (or fenamate) class of NSAID drugs, and is used
to treat mild to moderate pain, including menstrual pain, and
is sometimes used to prevent migraines associated with
menstruation.[1][2] It is not widely used in the United States
due to its side effects and high cost compared to other
NSAID drugs.
