APU AUSANGATE TREK

5 DAY S / 4 N I G H T S

1
BACKGROUND
Ausangate, part of the Vilcanota mountain range
in the Peru Andes, is a spectacular snow-
capped mountain that rises to 6,372 m (20,900
feet). The mountain plays a significant role in

Inca mythology. On a clear night the Willkamayu

(Milky Way) stretches across the sky, creating
a direct path to Ausangate. There is believed to
be a cosmic connection with Apu, the spirit of
the mountains.

YOUR TRIP
This is one of the most famous treks in Peru,
with geological features that include hanging
glaciers, valleys and limestone forests. It
includes lagoons and a view of the famous
Rainbow
Mountain. Animals that you will probably see
along the trail include wild vicunas, alpacas and
llamas, You will also have the special opportunity
