The radio station in which my show is going to feature on is Capital FM and will be presented by
me. The similar products that exist are BBC Radio 1 and Capital, these stations look out for who
is trending most on social media and who has the most downloaded song regarding the top 40
before deciding which songs and stories to play.

The main focus of the extract would be a music segment at the start followed by an indent and
then a talk piece which would feature a short piece about the song and band just played and
after a short quiz to win tickets to the jingle bell ball which would include similar questions to
what the others shows ask as it would allow me to carry on from the previous show and stay
true to the station and all the different features each show should include to allow loyal listeners
to stay interested and listening. I will then be playing yet another song at the end of the segment
to help keep the show moving along while also ending the segment in which i will be doing.

The show will interpolate the audience through the presenter being quite young and upbeat and
regard content which would both interest a young audience and keep them listening and
involved with the station and show. I will also be using a competition to win tickets for the jingle
bell ball which is quite popular among the station and its listeners as capital give out the free
tickets to any listener who wins the contest and or quiz.

My radio show follows the current trends in uk radio by using new music, competitions and a
ratio of 40:60 which allows for the listeners to not feel to bored or overpowered by the amount
of speech as the show will be music based instead of speech based to keep the audience
interested. I will however also be rejecting some trends by playing music that is probably more
less well known, I will be doing this as the station plays music from the hit top 40 only and from
past hits from a year or two ago. I then want to go against this trend especially within the
Capital station as it will bring something slightly different to the station and give a small break
to the repeated top 40 playlist.

The research in which I conducted has informed my product, by showing me the different
things in which I should include and which things I should make a priority over others such as
the music, interviews and competitions within the talk part of the show rather than focusing on
the news and commercials. After conducting all my research I have came to the conclusion that
I should keep my target audience at teenagers and young adults since the majority of them
have stated that their favourite genre of music is pop and their favourite station is that of
capital which is the station i will be playing my show on. I will also be competing some
competitions while playing fewer commercials and news bulletins but however staying within
and meeting the regulations given to commercial radio station. I will then also be playing a
higher percentage of music as that is what my target audience shown from my primary
research prefer.

The regulations in which I would need to consider includes codes 1.1 - 1.7 regarding the use of
language I am able to use and whether it is suitable for children under 18 years of age. Due to
my target audience being that of teenagers and young adults I will also need to consider rule
1.14, 1.16, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7 which would stop me from using any offensive offensive
language including any swearing unless justified by the context. I will however be sticking to
this by not using any offensive language at all due to my target audience being that of
teenagers under the age of 18. As my radio station is a commercial radio station I would
have to stick to rule 10.1 (signalling of commercial arrangements) which states that I would
have to state sponsors and or any 3rd parties and use certain words or terms when referencing
them.
